UWB Antenna and UWB Module
At the beginning of the project, we used DWM1000 modules with built-in ceramic antennas. As the sales work progressed, we found that DWM1000 accounted for too high a proportion of the cost.
We first switched to using a module similar to DWM1000 generated by a third party, but found that the cost was still too high. In addition, we plan to make an outdoor version of the anchor. The antenna must be external, so we cannot use modules with built-in antennas such as DWM1000.
We decided to make our own UWB module.
We designed the PCB antenna according to the diagram provided by the original DecaWave factory. In fact, this structure of the antenna is not used in our products. If it's built-in, it's too big; if it's external, it's better to use a fiberglass antenna.
We have also designed a variety of modules. Some have PA/LNA, some don’t have power amplifiers; some have built-in PCB antennas, and some use SMA interfaces.
These designs have undergone extensive testing and are used in mass-produced products. You can use it directly in production.
